Cris on Flickr front page

If you use Flickr to show your photographs to the world or to browse pictures of the world, chances are you know what Explore is, or even how it works. To explain briefly, every minute of the day, there are over 3,000+ photos uploaded. The best 500 of these almost 4,500,000+ pictures/day are featured in Explore.

But to be featured on the home page of Flickr, this is something! Recently I’ve learned that my Sunset in Carrara picture was featured on the Flickr front page.

Although so far I’ve managed to get 7 of my pictures selected for Explore, I never even dreamed that one of my pictures will be displayed on the home page, making it visible to the thousands of viewers! It is not something lucrative for me, it did not bring me any revenue, but it is always such a nice reward to see my name next to my picture, on the front page of a site visited by the world’s best photographers!

My Nikon D700 arrived!

This post is not intended to be useful in any way, there is nothing interesting in it, really, except for some people that are close to me.

My Nikon D700 is finally here!!!! Finally!!! Now I am only waiting for a 70-300mm glass to arrive (slow eBay!), and... I'll go shooting!!! Can’t wait!!

They’ve charged me customs a hell lot, if I compare to what I would have paid if I were to buy it from HKG or Japan for instance. But hey! I am sure it is worth every extra penny (koruna, actually :D) that went into the pockets of some guys that work for the Customs Office. Never mind that now, though :D

Goo Google!

After spending a considerable amount of time working, I finally managed to come up with two other wallpapers. Please find them below!

As usual, I work on 1080p resolution (1920x1080) to match the size of my monitor.

Below the text is taken from Google Czech Republic. Text is in English.

First snow in Prague!

Date of today: October 15th, 2009. Have had a look outside, sky is grey, and snowing heavily. I know it has been a bad weather lately, but I did not expect it to snow… it sort of tends to get me depressed.

Less than a month ago, there was such a nice weather, and one could not guess that the winter will come that fast. I want the summer days back.. I guess this winter could have waited for a little more. I am sure we will have snow now, and around Christmas when it is supposed to be all white, there will be none..

Nice weather in Prague on the 27th of September, less than a month ago! (Pics also posted on my Flickr page)

And now, after less than one month… we’ve got this. This.

Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you…

…my new baby! She is a member of the Nikon family, and her name is Nikon Coolpix P6000. There are a couple of things that make her so special. One of the most See it also on my Flickr page

interesting things about it is the fact that it has integrated GPS. And what does it exactly? It just tags your photo with the latitude and longitude and embeds that data into the EXIF headers of the picture, so later when you upload it to Flickr for instance, it will be automatically placed on the map. Details about what the camera can do you can find here, the official site. Also, please find a couple of on my Flickr page.
